Aa! is a unit officially created on September 12, 2003, formed by two Hello! Project KIDS members, Miyabi Natsuyaki and Airi Suzuki, and a Morning Musume. member, Reina Tanaka. Reina was chosen to add a romantic feeling to the unit, while Airi and Miyabi were chosen by Tsunku♂ because of their good singing, sense of rhythm and facial expressions.

According to Tsunku♂, the group's name comes from the fact that "Aa!" is universally a word to describe a ton of feelings such as happiness, sadness, grief and suffering; but also because with this name, even listed among 50 other artists, they'll always be first.

Their first single "FIRST KISS" was announced to release on October 29, 2003 under the PICCOLO TOWN label. It's the only official release from this unit.

With this single, Airi became the youngest member of Hello! Project to have the maximum number of lines in a song, at the age of 9. At the time, she didn't understand the meaning of the lyrics and her mother had to explain it to her.

The three members reunited to perform "FIRST KISS" during a Hello! Project concert in 2006, then became inactive for while until 2009, when Reina Tanaka was replaced by Akari Saho (Shugo Chara Egg!) during the Hello! Project units revival for the album Chample①〜Happy Marriage Song Cover Shuu〜 in which they covered the group Offcourse's "YES-YES-YES".
This lineup also performed at the Hello! Project Summer 2009 live and unveiled their new song "Yume to Genjitsu". In 2011, Akari Saho left H!P Egg so the unit became inactive again.

In 2015, Airi and Miyabi reunited to perform "Masayume" during Berryz Koubou Matsuri.

Airi Suzuki then often performed "FIRST KISS" during her solo events, and in 2018, her and Reina Tanaka reunited for Hello! Project 20th Anniversary!! Hello! Project 2018 SUMMER 〜ALL FOR ONE〜 & 〜ONE FOR ALL〜 to perform it again.

In 2019, Airi and Miyabi reunited during one Hello! Project 2019 WINTER ～YOU & I～/～NEW AGE～ performance to perform "Masayume".

On February 2021, new dates for the "M-line Special 2021" tour were announced with the three members as a guest. Fans were hoping for an original members reunion, and the members indeed performed the song on stage again for the first time since 2006.

 

In September 2023, Airi and Miyabi made a surprise appearance at Hello! Project 25th ANNIVERSARY CONCERT ALL FOR ONE & ONE FOR ALL! ACT I to perform "FIRST KISS" with Aa!. Fans' reaction were overwhelming.
