buono! - unit history

Buono! (ボーノ!) was a Hello! Project unit created to sing the anime Shugo Chara!'s opening and ending songs. The group's name comes from italian and means "delicious".

The unit was officially announced on July 21, 2007 during Nagayoshi Magazine Festival 2007, at Ikebukuro Sunshine City. Buono! was created to sing the opening "Kokoro no Tamago" and the ending "Honto no Jibun" of the manga "Shugo Chara!"'s anime version. During the second season, Buono! was only singing the endings, as openings were sung by units Guardians 4 and Shugo Chara Egg!.
On October 12, they open their website and official blog, now deleted.
Their first single, Honto no Jibun, released on October 31, 2007, was until 2012 the biggest selling single of Hello! Project's history, with 42,035 copies sold.

On February 20, 2008, the unit releases its first album Café Buono!, still the best selling album of all Hello! Project Kids' history. During the same year, the group will become the image character of the pizza company "PIZZA-LA", and appeared in various commercials broadcasted all over Japan.

On March 7, 2009 it was announced that Buono! would be guest at Sweden's Japan Expo on May 24 of the same year. The whole event was canceled one month before, on April 21, 2009, because of the lack of sales.

On March 27, 2010, Shugo Chara! anime ends. The group releases a last best-of with the label Pony Canyon on August 10, 2010, and starts a big break until December 2010 where it was announced that the group will be transfered on the zetima label. Their 11st single, Zasso no Uta released on February 2011, marks their start as a main unit of Hello! Project.

On November 12, 2011, it was announced that the group will have their first performance overseas in Paris. The tickets for their La Machine du Moulin Rouge live were sold out in few days and more than 1000 fans were here.

Their last release was the album "SHERBET", published on August 22, 2012. Even though their disband was not announcd officially, their profil was deleted of Hello! Project's website on April 23, 2014. Their only activity was their radio show Torattoria Buono! (which stopped on February 28, 2015 after the 100th episode). The girls were still performing during Hello! Project events, and even did a very moving performance of "Tabidachi no Uta" during Berryz Koubou's "Berryz Matsuri" at Ariake Colosseum in Tôkyô on March 1st, 2015, before Berryz Koubou's hiatus.

Even though fans were thinking this must have been the last performance of the group, Airi said in her radio show "Pâtisserie Airi" that the disband wasn't announced and that this live wasn't their last ! The group went back on stage at the end of 2015 during Hello! Project's "COUNTDOWN LIVE" where they announce a new live on August 25, 2016 at Nippon Budokan. On August 5, 2016, they announce on their YouTube channel the release of their new single, their first release since 4 years.

Because of °C-ute's disband and TSUGUNAGA Momoko's graduation from Hello! Project and entertainment, the band made it's last concert on May 22, 2017 at Yokohama Arena. They are still keeping in touch.
